Hij moet vanaf nu vooral de Performer High Racer vervangen. Die staat te koop. Ik hoop dat de corona-toestand snel achter de rug is zodat iemand anders kan genieten van de mogelijkheden van de racer.
Voor mij lijken de racing days voorbij. Ik ben nog aan het revalideren van mijn valpartij in januari. Fietsen gaat behoorlijk, maar ik denk dat ik mijn vroegere niveau niet meer haal. De drive om de snelste van het jaagpad te zijn is wat weg. Met de Ice Sprint was ik zeker niet de snelste. Met het toenemende herstel en de VTX onder mij ben ik nu al sneller dan de meeste maar af en toe word ik ingehaald door een jongere kerel met meer power op een racefiets. Die laat ik maar flinker zijn dan ikzelf.
Ik heb nog maar twee ritten gereden met de VTX en het is volop genieten. De trike geeft een heerlijk kart-gevoel. Wel uitkijken voor de vele gelegenheidsfietsers die dankzij de COVID-19 maatregelen hun fiets hebben (her-)ontdekt en de combinatie van sturen en vooruitkijken niet goed beheersen. Vooral als er een haag langsheen het fietspad staat is het dubbel uitkijken, ook al rij ik met een hel licht bovenop mijn helm.
